Christian Dior, soutenu par le monde de la mode qui apprécie ses créations, et aidé finacièrement par Marcel Boussac, ouvre fin 1946 avenue Montaigne, sa maison de Haute Couture. Il révolutionne l'image de la femme d'avant guerre et connait un grand succés. Paralélement il ouvre une branche Dior Parfum. Précurseur, il part à la conquète des Etats-Unis, puis organise des défilés et des contacts dans le monde entier. Après son brutal décès, Yves Saint-Laurent agé alors de 20 ans reprend la maison Dior. 1975 voit la création de sa première ligne d' horlogerie. Le passage sous le contrôle du groupe LVMH accélère l'ascenssion de la marque. La diversité des créateurs dans les différents secteurs d'activité est une des raisons du succés, comme celui du département de la joaillerie pris en main par Victoire de Castellane. La maison Dior est actuellement une des plus importantes dans le monde du luxe.
